In 2015, my husband and I were looking for a gym to help us get into better shape and help me cope with the loss of my mother. We found CrossFit 1936 and after our first class knew we had found a home. I was amazed at how much it helped my mental well-being as well as my physical health. I discovered a renewed confidence in myself, so much so that I entered a few CrossFit competitions! CrossFit has become a family affair for us. It has led to our daughter, Alyssa, becoming a collegiate powerlifter with a National title. Our son, Wyatt, regularly works out with us and has chosen CrossFit as his sport.
Although I had been very involved in my CrossFit community, I never envisioned myself stepping into a coaching role. For many years I had wanted to own my own business, but, wasn't sure how to make it happen. During some difficult times in 2020-2021, I realized that it was only going to happen if I made it happen. In 2022, I decided to get my L-1 certification, which helped me understand the methodology of CrossFit. I began coaching at RiverCity Fitness- CrossFit 1936 and I loved it!
My passion for CrossFit combined with my desire to help others achieve their fitness goals was the catalyst to purchase a nearby CrossFit gym. I truly believe that CrossFit is an amazing way to meet people where they are in regard to their fitness. It has done so much for me and I am drawn to pay that forward!
